  2. Campbell Services Inc.'s OnTime v2.0 and OnTime for Windows v1.0
  3. (both network  versions) are compatible with LANtastic NOS version
  4. 4.xx.  
  5.  
  6. Product Overview
  7. OnTime lets you schedule appointments and maintain the calendar for
  8. a workgroup.   The main screen of OnTime displays a day planner and
  9. a narrow box that shows at a  glance occupied blocks of time during
  10. the day.  Most of the program's functions can be  accessed through
  11. a handful of push-button keys at the bottom of the screen, which 
  12. includes adding and deleting appointments, adding and attaching
  13. notes, rescheduling  appointments, searching for keywords, printing
  14. a calendar and replacing the day  planner with either a week-at-a-
  15. glance or a month-at-a-glance view.  In addition to  appointments,
  16. it also allows you to maintain to-do lists.  To-do items can be
  17. prioritized  and set to automatically roll over until marked
  18. completed.

  20. The network version supports group scheduling (on a group
  21. calendar), including  notification to the individual that an
  22. appointment has been added to his or her calendar.   Each user can
  23. maintain the access rights of other users to his/her private
  24. calendar, and  s/he can belong to different groups to gain access
  25. to the group calendars. OnTime  produces tri-fold/duplex reports
  26. that combines different formats and views of the  schedule on one
  27. page.

  29. Product Installation Notes

  31. OnTime comes with a slim manual which covers installation on LANs
  32. in general, but a  document explaining how to set up OnTime on a
  33. LANtastic network is available on  request from Campbell Services'
  34. Tech. Support.  Installation is very automated, and the  Windows
  35. version offers to install OnTime in your list of Windows programs
  36. loaded at  startup and modify your win.ini.

  38. OnTime must be installed onto a drive that can be accessed by all
  39. users and must have  the same drive designator for all users,
  40. including the server.  However, a server with  files required to
  41. initialize or shutdown Windows should not remap any of its local
  42. drives  to network drives, or else Windows will lock up on the logo
  43. screen during initialization  (For details, please refer to Chapter
  44. 11 Using LANtastic with Microsoft Windows in the  LANtastic NOS
  45. version 4.1 Upgrade Manual).  Instead the DOS SUBST command  should
  46. be used, e.g. SUBST d: c:\ontime.

  48. Executable files in the \ONTIME directory must be set to read-only
  49. by the DOS ATTRIB  command.  After installation, you will need to
  50. add users to the system through the  SETUPNET(for DOS) or
  51. WSETUPN(for Windows) utility.  Each user's access can be 
  52. password'ed.  DOS SHARE is required on the server but not the
  53. workstations. Memory requirement for OnTime's TSR is 15k when in
  54. background, 380k when in  foreground.  It cannot be loaded high
  55. with the DOS loadhigh command, or with any of  the popular memory
  56. managers.

  58. Product Execution Notes

  60. To invoke OnTime, type ONTIME or OTLOAD for DOS, or click on the
  61. icon set up to  run OTWIN.exe for Windows.  It will then prompt you
  62. for the user name.  The loader  will swap itself to EMS memory if
  63. available.  It was noticed that the Ontime for  Windows' alarm
  64. tunes may not play to completion when running in Windows.  This is 
  65. due to a minor problem with the LANtastic redirector.   A
  66. workaround is also available  which needs to turn off network
  67. bleeping altogether, but in most cases users will not  need to
  68. worry about this cosmetic problem and the impact to the usage of
  69. the product is  minimal.

  71. Printing

  73. The DOS version of OnTime has an Options menu that allows you to
  74. select a printer  port.  The Windows version allows changes by
  75. selecting Files/Printer Setup from the  top menu bar.  As for all
  76. Windows applications, since Windows v3.x attempts to  optimize LPT1
  77. ports for local printing, you must connect your local LPT2 or LPT3
  78. ports  to network printers.  See Chapter 11 in the LANtastic NOS
  79. v4.1 Upgrade Manual for  details.
